About

Gillian Sciaretta joined Wine Spectator’s New York tasting department in 2012 and was promoted to associate editor in 2018. She is lead taster for France’s Beaujolais, southwest France, Languedoc-Roussillon and Provence regions, Portugal’s table wines, and Israel.

Born and raised in New Jersey, Sciaretta graduated from Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration in 2007. After graduating, she worked as a sustainable real-estate consultant in New York, where she helped LEED-certify commercial buildings. Sciaretta has directed Wine Spectator’s Restaurant Awards program since 2013. She enjoys traveling, cooking, playing drums and hiking, and lives in Manhattan with her husband, Frank, and their three cats, Pinot, Brie and Croque Monsieur.
