Alois Lageder has made his mark on northern Italy’s Alto Adige region. Following his mother’s interest, Alois starting turning the family vineyard toward biodynamic practices in 1970s, a rarity for the time. But he pushed forward, influencing winemakers across the region. Going into 2021, the pioneering winemaker will pass the torch to his son, who will lead the family business along with his sisters, Helena and Anna, who hope to maintain their father’s passion for innovation and experimentation.
