40 years of the New York Wine Experience and big news in Napa

Things to Celebrate
Wine Spectator editor and publisher Marvin R. Shanken (David Yellen)
From the Nov 15, 2021, issue

In conjunction with the 40th year of the Wine Experience, the annual event that celebrates wine and benefits the Wine Spectator Scholarship Foundation, the Foundation has announced its largest gift ever, $10 million to Napa Valley College. In his introduction to the Nov. 15, 2021, issue of Wine Spectator, editor and publisher Marvin R. Shanken reflects on the Wine Experience's history, the foundation's commitment to tomorrow’s wine leaders and Napa's role as the epicenter of American wine, especially Cabernet Sauvignon. The annual tasting report, featured here, highlights the classic 2018 vintage—"the new modern benchmark for California Cabernet, hands down."
