Despite the challenges faced by Montalcino vintners during the 2018 vintage, the year represented a departure for this Tuscan region. After a string of hot, dry summers, the vintage offered both adequate rainfall and cooler temperatures, yielding wines that are like a breath of fresh air, particularly on the heels of the robust Brunellos that were produced only a year earlier, in the scorching, drought-influenced 2017 campaign.
